Glory Awaits!
OCTOBER 2026 NEWSLETTER
Hello Reader,
Happy fall! The weather is still hot in Southern California, so I’m pleased I can still swim most days. Even better, a girlfriend gave me a “spring suit”—a wetsuit with short sleeves and short legs—so I can continue swimming in cool weather. I’m praising God for that.
I’ve noticed a big increase in visitors to my articles on heaven. So this month I’m spotlighting one of them: “10 Scriptures About Heaven That Will Answer Your Deepest Questions.” In addition, I created a digital download that lists the ten Scriptures from the article. Enjoy!
10 Scriptures About Heaven That Will Answer Your Deepest Questions
As a child, I thought heaven was clouds through which God poked his head to see whether people were behaving. Paintings, comic strips, and movies added angels and a white gate manned by a stern-faced, bearded man. I read Huckleberry Finn’s portrayal of heaven as boring and filled with prudes who do nothing but play harps eternally.
What a delight it was when I first started reading Scriptures about heaven. They described it as robust, alive, and action-filled. Heaven had gemstones, strange creatures, fruit trees, and a river. There were giant warrior angels who shone like stars. Heaven seemed glorious.
Here, then, are ten of my favorite Scriptures about heaven that can give us a glimpse of the glories to come.

One More Last Chance (A Place to Call Home Book #2): A Novel
Cathleen Armstrong
Sarah Cooley has come home to Last Chance, New Mexico, where she wants everything to stay the same. Chris Reed is taken with her, but as the new owner of the Dip ‘n’ Dine, he wants major changes. Meanwhile, Chris’s sister drops off her seven-year-old daughter Olivia at Chris’s and leaves without telling the girl, breaking promises to the child. Olivia’s story stood out to me the most because I could relate it to the stories of our former foster children. I loved this sweet, clean story of small-town life.

Three Ordinary Girls: The Remarkable Story of Three Dutch Teenagers Who Became Spies, Saboteurs, Nazi Assassins–and WWII Heroes
Tim Brady
Historian Tim Brady follows the lives of three teenage girls during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands: Hannie Schaft and sisters Truus and Freddie Oversteegen. As part of the communist resistance, they conduct sabotage missions, assassinate Nazi soldiers and sympathizers, and shelter Jews. Brady helpfully weaves in major events from the lives of Anne Frank and Corrie Ten Boom. This book is valuable for its historical insights and for understanding the chilling way in which the girls justified their controversial violence: Those they kill are not human but enemies.
