A Christmas Poem
Here are the first three stanzas of a poem I wrote celebrating Christmas:
Word in beginning, all things through him made;
Word was with God and was God, yet he weighed
Cost of redeeming lost man from the grave:
Word became flesh, so that man he could save.
God sent his angel called Gabriel down
To the young Mary in Nazareth town.
“Greetings,” said he, “highly favored you are!”
Mary then wondered at message from far.
Troubled was she, but he said, “Do not fear,
You have found favor with God—he is near.
You will give birth to a son you will name
Jesus, and great will be he in acclaim."

All the Genealogies of the Bible: Visual Charts and Exegetical Commentary
Nancy S. Dawson, Eugene H. Merrill, Andreas J. Kostenberger
This giant book is wonderful. I ordered it as soon as I read about it. It contains over 340 genealogies in chronological order. It’s a great reference work and is particularly helpful in determining whether people with similar names are the same person. But I confess it’s also good for reading just before bedtime (I’m up to King David). Amazon is selling the hard-bound book for half price during Cyber Monday.

Anne of Green Gables
L. M. Montgomery
Why had I never read this before? I read it during evenings while Clay was in the hospital and absolutely loved this charming coming-of-age classic. A spirited young orphan with a wild imagination and a bit of a temper finds a home with elderly siblings. She learns to pray, study, be patient, and forgive. The illustrated versions would delight a girl age 8 and up. The link below is to the complete 8-book set on Kindle for 99 cents.

Personal News
The Lord blessed us greatly last month. Clay had open heart surgery last week. The surgeon successfully fixed the broken heartstrings that operate the mitral valve and repaired a leaky Watchman device to prevent strokes. He also performed a CryoMaze ablation to stop Afib. The last stopped Afib for only a couple days, but it’s possible the Afib will spontaneously stop as his heart heals. Clay is recovering very well and has no pain. So much to be thankful to God for!
